9 Steps to running the Marathon
- Go for a medical exam to determine your fitness.
- Choose good running shoes and socks (the right type and right size).
- Start training programme weeks before the marathon.
- Always carry your mobile phone when you're out jogging.
- Training with a partner helps motivation and increases safety.
- Always begin and end your training session with light stretching exercises.
- Always run facing on-coming traffic. Avoid busy roads!
- Don't wear headphones. Always be aware of your environment.
- Carry sufficient fluid during training.
